Galena isn’t just set in a beautiful location, the residents of the area are the same. They love their police and fire departments and especially their veterans.
Welcome to the 13th District – The American Legion Thirteenth District, Department of Illinois is one of 25 Districts that call Illinois home. Geographically we encompass most of Northwest Illinois with 42 Posts in Carroll County, Jo Daviess County, Lee County, Ogle County, Stephenson County and Whiteside County and three main groups makeup what we call the Legion Family. The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary and the Sons of the American Legion. While we strive to work as a family, each supporting the activities and programs of the others, each is in fact a separate entity with its own Charter, By-Laws and governing rules.
We are working hard to secure our location and increase our membership. Some day we hope to include sons of The American Legion and membership of the Women’s Auxiliary.
