Galena United Methodist Church is reconciling congregation and member of the Reconciling Ministries Network of the United Methodist Church. We are the oldest Methodist church in northwest Illinois and one of the oldest congregations in Galena having been founded in 1829. General then President Ulysses S. Grant worshipped in our church before he went off to lead the Union army in the Civil War. We celebrate being Grant’s Church. We look forward to our 200th anniversary in 2029 and the beginning of our third century serving Galena and Jo Daviess County.
